In a radio interview with 702 Jacob Zuma has again called for "pressure via talks" to resolve the Zimbabwean crisis - and the ANC government has consistently refused to take decisive action to ensure the overthrow of Robert Mugabe.
Of course, if one keeps talking the 84-year-old tyrant will eventually be "talked to death" or die of natural causes.
What kind of victory will that be when Zimbabwe is then left to the mercy of the cruel commanders of the security forces who are terrified of being incarcerated for their murderous deeds?
Second, we have had a recent history of xenophobic attacks on Zimbabweans.
Yet, if Mugabe visits SA again will he be given the "usual" hero's welcome - as has happened so frequently in the past?
Once a "solution" is found in Zimbabwe (and it must happen eventually) does the ANC government want historians to write: "The Zimbabwean crisis was resolved despite the attitudes, actions and policies of the South African government and certainly not because of them.
