Lots of questions need to be answered in the controversy surrounding the R580000 housing loan allegedly granted to a KwaZulu-Natal labourer by a bank.

Mthobi Colen Yende only earns R2000 a month, yet he is alleged to have been granted a loan of R580000 - for a house in an area he claims he does not even know. He has denied taking the loan.

What complicates the matter further is that investigations have now revealed that the house he allegedly owns at Boxwood Avenue, Kempton Park, does not even exist.

This raises suspicions of fraud involving bank employees because the evaluator could not have visited the house to approve the bond.

The whole saga needs to be thoroughly probed.
