How can former ANC members, who had the benefit of leading the congress, now challenge that the ANC as the Congress?
Those who have read Chief Albert Luthuli and OR Tambo's writings (both former presidents of the ANC), will know that they both used congress to refer to the ANC.
For members and leaders of the ANC not to know this is tantamount to ill-discipline. This means "Terror" and his comrades were not disciplined leaders and led an organisation they did not understand.
Disciplined ANC leaders ought to have read the letter by Luthuli in response to Jordan Ngubane in 1956. Like "Terror", Ngubane did not understand the basis for the Congress of the People.
In 1953 the Cape provincial conference passed a motion for a gathering of all those who shared a common vision for SA . In preparation for this gathering the ANC engaged her partners to realise the success of the gathering, the Congress of the People. The ANC then adopted the Freedom Charter in 1955.
True leaders of the ANC should know this. The Congress (of the People) cannot be divorced from the congress (the ANC).When leaders don't read it makes them lesser leaders.
