Jazz fest was hypnotising

I must say the year-end mini fest at the Oude Meester Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg was a classy and entertaining affair.

For starters, it was unusual to have several artists on one given night. However, as the evening unfolded, it became gratifying to be witness, not only to the spectacular performances, but the amazing collaborations that are bound to take our music to the next level.

I still get goose bumps just thinking about Tsepo Tshola and Gloria Bosman's magnificent voices soaring in unison to a breathtaking crescendo. She is defi- nitely not Wendy Mseleku but Andile tries to live up to the family's reputation of great singers.

Another sterling surprise was the Taiwa Jazz Band. They are brilliant and if they carry on like this they will soon dazzle on the world stage.

Nana Coyote Motijoane is another dark horse. Whenever he opens his mouth you just get enthralled.

As for Siphokazi, she is likely to grow and be the best she can be. She has done well taking the traditional route and its just working for her.
