The Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein has scored big time with its stadium chosen as a training venue for the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Sowetan has it on good authority that the facility was approved by the Local Organising Committee after being inspected by the technical committee.

The other Free State facility that will also be used as a training venue for the "Festival of Champions" is Seisa Ramabodu Stadium. Free State Stadium will be the main stadium.

In all the four host cities, the LOC has selected two training venues for this eight-nation tournament from June 14-28.

In Johannesburg, Orlando Stadium and Rand Stadium are the training venues. Bafana Bafana start their Confederations Cup with a game against Iraq at the revamped Ellis Park Stadium on June 14.

In Pretoria, Mamelodi's HM Pitje Stadium and Super Stadium in Atteridgeville have been chosen, with Loftus being used for the games, which will also include the big one between Brazil and Italy on June 21.

In Rustenburg, the two training venues are the new Moruleng Stadium and Mogwase Stadium. Royal Bafokeng will be the main stadium for the Confed Cup.
