Racist farmer Derick James Steyn must be feeling like a castrated bull after police confiscated his guns on Friday.

This is after Steyn, who is out on R1000 bail in connection with an assault case, allegedly intimidated witnesses.

Steyn is accused of terrorising the black community in Meyerton, Vaal, with impunity - allegedly because he enjoys the protection of local magistrate Marius Serfontein.

He was arrested after his domestic worker, Thembi Ndlovu, accused him of assaulting her.

After making a brief court appearance at the Vereeniging magistrate's court on Friday police followed him to his farm outside Meyerton and seized two rifles and a revolver.

Meyerton police spokesman Constable Makgauta Serathi said the guns were taken away because of the nature of the crimes Steyn was facing.

"Given the nature of his criminal record and the current charges he might be declared unfit to possess a gun for the rest of his life," he said.
