Opposition parties say the ANC is undermining the judiciary by politicising every criminal charge made against its leadership.

The comments follow KwaZulu-Natal MEC Neliswa "Peggy" Nkonyeni's appearance in court this week, where her supporters said the national prosecuting authority was running a political campaign against her by laying corruption charges.

"This is extremely bad for our judicial system," said DA justice spokesman Tertius Delport.

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa called her supporters "part of the Polokwane lynch mob", while Azapo's David Lebethe said the behaviour "would come back to haunt them".

The Black Consciousness Party said the behaviour was "unacceptable because it is exerting undue pressure on the judiciary".
