Is Cope Thabo Mbeki's idea, as suggested by ANC NEC member Fikile Mbalula?

Is Cope Thabo Mbeki's idea, as suggested by ANC NEC member Fikile Mbalula?

Mbeki seems unwilling to open up and tell the truth on the issue. That means speculation on the matter will remain the order of the day until Mbeki clears the air.

Does Mbeki's loyalty still lie with the ANC, given his unceremonious sacking? Has the former president forgiven his detractors and made peace with his removal from office? Is Mbeki prepared to be deployed by the ruling party?

It must be borne in mind that the recalling of Mbeki was cited as the reason for the breakaway party. The ANC dissidents claimed Mbeki's sacking was an indication that the ANC leadership had lost respect for the country's Constitution.

It is also interesting to note that prominent ANC dissidents and Mbeki loyalists, such as Mbhazima Shilowa and Smuts Ngonyama, met Mbeki before they tendered their resignations.

While there was nothing wrong with that these meetings raised more questions than answers.

Why did the dissidents meet the former president before resigning?

I suppose that will remain their secret.

Mbeki's supporters are expected to resign en masse early next year to join Shikota. This has sowed the seed of mistrust in the ANC, which is what Cope wanted.
