Augustine Makalakalane, Basetsana Basetsana coach, believes his girls have enough in the tank to reach the final of the Zone 6 tournament in Potchefstroom today.

And they were still motivated despite losing 0-1 to Zimbabwe yesterday. Basetsana, the South African national women's Under-20 team, went into their match against Zimbabwe unbeaten in their preceding four matches of the biennial event

"We will not be demoralised by this defeat," said Makalakalane.

Basetsana have won this competition since its inception in 2004. The bulk of the team is made up of players based at the High Performance Centre in Tshwane.

The organisers were due to meet late last night to determine the draw for the semifinals, which are also scheduled for today.

The team, which uses a lot of the Under-17 girls, has played entertaining football and the crowds have been enthralled by their skills.

"We are using this tournament to identify players to promote to Banyana for our upcoming tournament in Europe and many have made a big impression," said team manager Fran Hilton-Smith.
