Two pensioners were wounded in crossfire between security guards and a gang during a botched robbery on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, police said yesterday.

Two pensioners were wounded in crossfire between security guards and a gang during a botched robbery on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast, police said yesterday.

The armed gang had attempted to rob a pension pay point in Ezingolweni on Monday and opened fire on security guards, said spokesman Superintendent Zandra Wiid.

When the guards returned fire the gang fled. A car chase ensued. Quick reaction by police led to several arrests. - Sapa
