Thanda Royal Zulu coach Roger Palmgren has joined those who have poured scorn on rumours that his star striker Bernard Parker would be joining PSL club Mamelodi Sundowns.
Rather, Palmgren hinted that should the player make any move at all, it would be to Malmo, a club from his country of birth, Sweden.
"It will depend on the player, obviously. But he could join one of the three overseas-based clubs we have been negotiating with. The move could happen in January or at the end of the season," said Palmgren.
"Bernard would rather take his chances overseas, instead of moving to a club here, regardless of the amount of money, because you get the money, then what? Besides, we have not heard anything from Sundowns."
According to Palmgren, the PSL's leading goal scorer enjoyed his stay in Sweden when he went for trials there earlier this year, and had been impressed with the professional set-up the club has in place.
Parker is reportedly on the shopping lists of Greek club Panathanaikos, Serbia's Re Star Belgrade and Denmark's Aalborg BK.
Echoing those with the view that exporting as many players as possible will enhance Bafana Bafana's performance in the 2010 World Cup, the Thanda coach added that the ideal home for Parker would be at a team in which he would not sit on the bench.
"Our main intention is to do our best to help him join a team where he will not sit on the bench, and then return to the country with his tail between his legs," he said.
