Top South African sports administrator Nthebe Molope has landed himself a plum job at the Local Organising Committee.
Molope is serving as an assistant venue manager of Loftus Stadium in Tshwane for the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup.
Soweto-born Molope is working closely with Mandla Mazibuko, the man in charge of the stadium for the global competitions.
This is hardly a month after resigning from his job at the department of sports, arts, culture and recreation in Gauteng where he was a director.
Molope, a former Volleyball South Africa deputy president, could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
The hard-working Molope is one of the senior people appointed by the LOC in the past few months to beef up various departments.
Other appointments are those of internationally renowned journalist Rich Mkhondo and popular marketing expert Derek Cartens. Mkhondo has replaced Tim Modise as chief of communications, an ideal person to help promote the Confederations Cup and World Cup.
Cartens, who was part of the bid for the 2006 World Cup, is also the right man to head the LOC's marketing department. He has been seconded to the LOC by First National Bank for the World Cup, an event expected to lure more than 500 000 tourists into the country.
At the same time, Puleng Baloyi is the assistant venue manager of Ellis Park Stadium. Baloyi will work with venue manager Andrew Dipela.
Siphiwe Ngwenya is the venue manager at Free State Stadium.
