Let Zimbabwe be a lesson to SA

How our courts could allow Jacob Zuma to use and abuse them over the years boggles the mind.

How our courts could allow Jacob Zuma to use and abuse them over the years boggles the mind.

Millions of rands of taxpayer's money has been squandered on indefensible charges of corruption, fraud, money-laundering and tax evasion.

Poor Schabir Shaik is the sacrificial lamb, while Zuma continues to enjoy the limelight brought about by his legal successes.

He seems to be gloating over the fact that he has managed to frustrate every right-thinking South African. Experience has taught him that the courts will succumb to every trick he uses to achieve his goals.

Small wonder that he has gone to court to stop Cope, which seems to be a tsunami that might thwart his presidential ambitions.

Zuma and his lawyers have absolutely no regard for the future of the country.

Zimbabwe should be a good lesson for all South Africans. When the first signs of Robert Mugabe's tyranny started to show Zimbabweans turned a blind eye to it.

Today their country is a shame and an embarrassment to all Africans. Their blind loyalty to Mugabe has come back to haunt them.

I believe and hope South Africans are smarter. Bear in mind that beyond our borders there is only the Indian and Atlantic oceans and therefore nowhere to run.
