An ANC councillor who allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian with his car was released on bail yesterday.

The Moutse magistrate's court released Titus Simelane, 32, a councillor for Malaineng section of Dennilton in Moutse, Limpopo, on a R1500 bail.

He was not asked to plead and his case was postponed to February 23 next year.

Simelane was allegedly speeding on a busy road in Dennilton when he knocked down a 14-year-old boy, who died on the scene. The accident happened on Saturday.

Police spokesman Superintendent Jackson Tlemo said they were waiting blood results to determine whether Simelane had been driving under the influence.
