The saga of a paralysed Lenasia boy, Sibusiso Lamula, who lives in abject poverty while lawyers claim to have invested his R1,5 million compensation from the Road Accident Fund seriously begs for rational steps to end his plight.

Unfortunately the lawyers, Raphael and David Smith Incorporated, who claim to have invested the money on Lamula's instructions, remain unmoved by attempts to review this decision.

If anything, the boy's plight raises questions about the lawyers' actions and their continued belief that they are acting in his best interest.

The Law Society should shoulder part of the blame for awakening to the seriousness of the matter nearly two years after a formal complaint was launched with it.
