Atteridgeville and Daveyton townships will be abuzz with football activity during the festive season as two popular tournaments are featured to keep soccer lovers busy during the Absa Premiership Christmas break.

The Lucas Masterpieces Moripe December Games for 2008 will be held at two venues this year - Atteridgeville's Super Stadium and the Mbolekwa grounds - the Lucas Moripe Development Foundation has announced.

The games will be held from December 15 to 30.

Spokesman Abe Setlhako said that the format for the tournament will be round robin, featuring four streams, with the two top teams from each stream going through to the quarterfinals.

Moripe said he was proud to be associated with the games, and indicated that his desire for development has been fulfilled with the inclusion of Under-14s.

"This is the kind of legacy that I would like to see develop, with the youth participating fully in the tournament."

The Under-14 teams will not have to pay affiliation fees to participate, while the senior teams will be required to pay R1500 per team of 22 players.

Affiliation details can be obtained by telephoning 073-605-8461, 082-389-9043 or 083-686-6017. Affiliation will take place on December 5 and 12.

In Daveyton, the Benoni North Local Football Association will be hosting the Tuka Diski Games from December 17-30 at the Chris Hani sports complex and Sinaba stadium's B soccer field.

Teams are invited to a meeting on Saturday at the Sinaba tennis court boardroom at 3pm. Potential sponsors are also invited to attend.

The tournament will cater for the Under-13s, Under-17s and an open division. For information call 084-274-2044.
