Mpumalanga will send 152 athletes to the Inter-provincial Games (IPG), starting from December 12 to 14 in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.

Mpumalanga, who came third last year, hope to do better this time. But for that to happen, their athletes will have to get the better of the hosts, Eastern Cape, Free State, and neighboring countries Swaziland and Lesotho.

Among the sporting codes that teams will take part in are amateur golf, netball, table tennis, football, rugby sevens and volleyball.

Last year's games were held in Mpumalanga where KwaZulu-Natal came first with 35 points, followed by Free State with 30 points.

This year's Mpumalanga team has vowed to dominate the games. To this end the athletes have been put through vigorous training camps on November 22, 23, 29 and 30, with a final one scheduled for December 11 in KwaZulu-Natal.

MEC for sport, culture and recreation Dina Pule said the camps have been organised to prepare the athletes well and ensure that they are in fine form and ready to drive home their superiority in the three-day games.
