We cannot afford to live with people who do not have regard for other people's lives, especially if the victims are from our law enforcement agencies.

We must applaud legislators for passing the Criminal Law Amendment Act to curb this kind of cancer and for introducing a mandatory life sentence for certain crimes, one of which is murdering a police officer.

Who will restore order if our policemen are butchered by criminals?
