CAIRO - England, the top seeds in the Women's World Team Squash Championships being played in Cairo, had an easy 3-0 victory over ninth seeded Hong Kong when the first round was played on Sunday.

Hosts Egypt, the second seeds, battled to a 2-1 win over 10th seeded Canada .

South Africa, seeded 13th, lost 0-3 to fourth- seeded Malaysia.

Farrah Sterne (Northerns) lost in straight games to the World Number one Nicol David.

Gautenger Diana Argyle nearly caused an upset pushing Sharon Wee to five games, eventually succumbing 9-11 in the fifth. - Sapa
