Metrorail says hundreds of uniformed and plain-clothed railway police and security guards will be deployed on trains and at stations this festive season.

Dumi Dube, Metrorail's KwaZulu-Natal regional manager, said no effort would be spared in making this festive season the safest yet for train commuters.

The 350-strong railway police force will be supported by 528 security guards plus an additional 72 security guards who will be deployed specifically for the festive season.

More than 120 protection services employees will also ensure the safety of commuters on trains and stations along all Metrorail routes. - Mary Papayya
