At the start of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign, can I say that child abuse comes in many forms. Some may not see it this way, but neglecting a child's safety as a pedestrian or when using public transport is a form of abuse.

At the start of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign, can I say that child abuse comes in many forms. Some may not see it this way, but neglecting a child's safety as a pedestrian or when using public transport is a form of abuse.

On Monday, a child was knocked down and killed by a speeding taxi in Diepsloot. The child suffered a form of violence that was perfectly controllable, namely vehicle speed. This was child abuse. It is also abuse if a taxi driver or any official charged with public transport acts in a reckless and negligent way, even if they don't cause an accident.

As the festive season approaches, be mindful of child safety, especially on the roads.
