Fifa general secretary Jerome Valcke has reiterated their stance that there were no plans to take the 2010 World Cup away from South Africa.

Valcke said there was no need for people to talk about a Plan B for the World Cup, because Fifa had confidence that South Africa would deliver a special tournament.

"We should forget about asking this question [about a Plan B]," he said at the Soccerex opening ceremony on Monday.

Plan B briefly came under the spotlight during a panel discussion to deal with South Africa's readiness for the 2009 Confederations Cup and 2010 World Cup.

Valcke said Fifa was impressed by the passion displayed by South Africans at the rebuilt Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday.

Danny Jordaan, LOC chairman, said South Africa had a come a long way since May 15 2004, when the hosts were announced.

Jordaan said they were still confident that more than 500000 tourists would visit South Africa during the World Cup despite the global economic crisis.

He is hoping countries enjoying massive support like Holland, Italy, Germany and England will qualify for the event.

"The performance of the host country is key to the success of the tournament."

Jordaan urged South Africans to support the Confederations Cup and World Cup.
