Much work is being done to formulate policy and organise support into formal structures. Support from all race groups, especially first-time voters, is increasing daily.
Cope provides us all with an unprecedented opportunity to end the race-based voting patterns that have characterised our politics since 1994.
The bottom line is that voting along colour lines simply leads us all up a dead end. A realist challenge to the ANC could only have come from within the ANC and that day is now upon us.
Opposition voters can finally rally around common values and principles in a focused and unified campaign to provide an alternative to the ANC.
Regardless of the logo or branding, no current opposition party can seriously claim to be able to deliver such a blow to the unaccountable and arrogant ruling party.
Whites, in particular, should stop clinging on to their traditional political parties and leave their comfort zones.
According to the last national census, whites have fallen in number to just under 11 percent of the population - thus, even if every eligible white voter supported the DA, the result would be less than seven percent.
