Absa Premiership first-timers Bay United are likely to confirm Owen da Gama as their head coach before the end of the week.

Tim Sukazi, Da Gama's legal representative, confirmed to Sowetan yesterday that the 2006 Telkom Knockout-winning coach has already met the management of the club for talks.

But Sukazi could not say when Da Gama - also a former Orlando Pirates coach - would join United.

"Nothing has been finalised yet and I'm waiting to hear from them in regard to the terms and conditions of what they will offer Da Gama," Sukazi said.

The club's spokesman, Vuyo Mvoko, also admitted they had spoken to Da Gama.

"He is one of the coaches who are available that we have spoken to, but I can't say that he is joining us.

"But we all know that he is a good coach," Mvoko said.

He said he was confident they will get a replacement for Vladislav Heric who resigned last Thursday citing interference by the management for his decision to leave the Premiership battlers.
