Randburg Rangers beat Tamasa Football Club 1-0 on penalties to clinch the Gauteng provincial finals of the Sony Fevapitch five-a-side soccer tournament at the Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Both teams have joined the other eight provincial finalists, including teams from KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, North West and Western Cape in the national finals which take place at same venue today and tomorrow.

The matches will start at 10.30am on both days, and the national champions will take home R40 000 and a Sony Bravia television set.

Tamasa, who are captained by Thabang "Chillies" Lebese, were widely tipped to win the provincial event because of the gutsy display they produced throughout the event.

But it looks set to be difficult for the Gauteng sides in the national finals considering that they will be up against equally capable opponents from other provinces.

Spectators on Sunday also had a chance to watch the likes of legends Neil Tovey, Mark Fish, Doctor Khumalo, Steve Crowley, Albert "Bashin" Mahlangu, Edward Motale and Mark Williams in action as they trashed a combined media team 6-3 in the curtain-raiser. - Mcelwa Nchabeleng
