Santos coach David Bright is likely to feel the wrath of the PSL's disciplinary committee after accusing the referee of cheating while officiating in their 0-1 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic.
The Absa Premiership match was handled by Zolile Mthetho in Bloemfontein on November 16. Bright was quoted as saying after the match: "The referee cheated on us today and I'm not happy with the way he handled this match."
He also dropped a bombshell when he claimed that he overheard Celtic coach Mich D'Avray saying that the referee saved him his job on the day.
Zola Majavu, the league's prosecutor, confirmed to Sowetan yesterday he had written a letter to Bright to ask him to explain the comments attributed to him after the match.
He could not be drawn into commenting about Bidvest Wits coach Roger de Sa, who was sent off against Kaizer Chiefs in Milpark on Saturday, for allegedly using abusive language on referee Buyile Gqubule.
Majavu said he had not received the match reports. He also confirmed that last night that Dynamos' boss Pat Malabela and managing director July Malabela were found guilty of verbally abusing a match official in their National First Division match against Jomo Cosmos a fortnight ago.
Pat Malabela was fined R40 000, of which R30 000 was suspended for 12 months.
July Malabela was fined R30 000 which was wholly suspended for 12 months. They were also also ordered to pay the costs of the two sittings.
