Kaizer Chiefs security personnel made life very difficult for Sowetan staffers Meshack Motloung and Veli Nhlapo, who were due to cover the media open day at Naturena yesterday.

On arrival at the gates, security personnel told our team that without accreditation they would not be allowed inside the Chiefs village.

They stated that Chiefs media officer Luthando Zibeko gave them instructions not to allow people from the media into the complex if they did not have t accreditation.

This came as a shock for Motloung because journalists normally attend such open days without accreditation.

With that snub they had to drive back to the Sowetan without stories.

Incidentally, Mamelodi Sundowns also held a similar event and journalists were not asked for accreditation.

Motloung later phoned the team's manager Bobby Motaung, who sounded upset when told about our ordeal and promised to follow it up.

Shortly thereafter Chiefs' public relations manager Siya Makunga phoned and stated how sorry they were about the incident. - Sowetan
