Soccer personalities Roger De Sa and William Seakamela have been appointed to serve as team liaison officers for the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Sowetan has learnt that De Sa will be working for the reigning champions, Brazil, during the eight- nation competition from June 14 to 28.

De Sa, who is fluent in Portuguese, is the coach of Bidvest Wits. He has also played for Bafana Bafana.

Seakamela, the popular South African Schools Football Association executive member, will be liaison for Bafana Bafana in the tournament.

Seakamela, a former Mahwelereng Motherwells and Seshego Rolling Bucks player, has also worked for Safa as coach of the Under-20 women's national side.

Sowetan caught up with Seakamela during the draw of the Festival of Champions at Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday.

"It's a great honour to be part of this historic tournament," said Seakamela.

"I have been here at the convention centre rubbing shoulders with some of the most respected soccer leaders, one has learnt a great deal from them.

"As a coach, one will also get an opportunity to get advice from more successful coaches like Joel Santana, Shehata Hassan and Vicente Del Bosque."

The Local Organising Committee is expected to name the other six team liaison officers for Italy, Spain, Egypt, United States of America, Iraq and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana will finally launch their official supporter clothing range in Johannesburg today in preparation for the Confed Cup and World Cup.
