Thousands of mourners attended the funeral of 15-year-old Nsovo Sambo, who was recently murdered by a man who raped her and stabbed her 66 times.

At the funeral service at the Madonsi Kraal, near Makhasa in Mpumalanga, the principal of EPP Mhinga High, Aubrey Mabasa, was among those who paid tribute to the former Grade 9 schoolgirl.

Other speakers included Emelinah Myambo of the Hand of Blessings Church, where Nsovo had been a member of the church choir, and the chairman of the Madonsi Royal Council, Judas Hlungwani, who spoke on behalf of Chief Elvis Madonsi who was also present.
