Nsovo Sambo, who was raped and stabbed 66 times last Friday, will be buried at the Madonsi Cemetery in Malamulele, Limpopo, tomorrow.

The community of Madonsi remained calm but angry yesterday in the aftermath of the murder.

The Sambo family has been getting support from all sectors of the community, offering prayers and messages of condolences since the tragedy.

"We are grateful for the support we have received from members of the community," said the dead girl's father, Mackson Sambo. "We really appreciate the fact that villagers braved the rainy weather to offer their support to us,"

Sambo said his daughter's death had shocked the family.

"She was respectful and I've never had complaints from the community about her behaviour," he said.

Sambo, who has two wives, said Nsovo, 15, was his fourth child.

His daughter's death had caught him off guard because for the past two years he had been working for only two days a week at a factory in Johannesburg.

"This means I will not be able to give my daughter a decent funeral. I am relying on donations from close relatives."

Phineas Myambo, a teacher at EPP Mhinga High School where Nsovo was a Grade 9 pupil, described her as a good pupil.

"She was a brilliant child who never failed."

He said Sambo's death had shocked teachers and pupils. The staff at EPP visited her family yesterday to offer their condolences.
