Fifteen people were arrested at Apel in the Sekhukhune area of Limpopo yesterday in connection with the burning of a house and seven sheep.

The mob accused the owner of the house of stabbing a fellow villager to death.

Police spokesman Superintendent Mohale Ramatseba said enraged residents went to the man's house and set it alight.

They also burnt the man's seven sheep and then fled.

Damage has been estimated at R300000.

Ramatseba said the 15 arrested men were aged between 16 and 40. They are expected to appear in the Sekhukhune magistrate's court today on charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property and arson.

Ramatseba cautioned communities not to take the law into their own hands when they suspected that a crime had been committed.
