The Velodrome in Abuja, Nigeria, will be abuzz on Saturday when it hosts the first MTV Africa Music Awards with with the biggest party the mother continent has ever seen.
The Mamas are bringing good things with them, one of which is the arrival of urban music legend and king of the airwaves Trevor Nelson.
Set to occupy the hottest spot on a night of bling, caviar and champagne - or perhaps jollo fries, fried chicken, egusi soup and semolina - Nelson is expected to bring great excitement to the awards.
He has become a household name after more than a decade of championing urban, club and experimental music on radio and TV.
His achievements include MTV's seminal urban music chat show, The Lick, and BBC3's The Lowdown.
A gold mine of information on everything to do with hip-hop, R&B, dancehall, soul and other urban genres, Nelson's Saturday night Radio1 show is a regular fixture with the biggest urban stars on the planet.
Another exciting showing will be that of US hip-hop phenomenon The Game.
The West Coast rapper, who is also nominated in the Best Hip-Hop category at the awards, will perform live in Abuja for the first time after a brilliant show in South Africa.
Born Jayceon Terrell Taylor, The Game is one of hip-hop's most successful artists, with two No1 US albums under his belt.
He joins local heart-throb and livewire D'Banj, better known as Koko, Tanzanian hip-hop sensation Professor Jay and Ghanaian hip life star Kwaw Kese.
Another that promises to be a sterling performance will be that of Kelly Rowland of the Destiny's Child trio.
Hoisting the flag for South Africa is Cassette. Recently in the country, she has blown everyone away wherever she has performed.
