Bafana Bafana's revival will be put to test by Samuel Eto'o when they take on Cameroon during the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Rustenburg tonight.

South Africa has won three consecutive games, though many argue that the opposition was not strong enough to assess their recovery.

It all started when they beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and went on to win two friendly games.

The victories were against Malawi (3-0) and Ghana (2-1), when coach Joel Santana claimed Bafana Bafana were back on a winning path. Santana has promised to give South Africans a memorable Christmas gift tonight.

The game, scheduled to start at 8.30pm at Olympia Park Stadium, will form part of Bafana Bafana's preparations for the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Brotherly advice to Aaron Mokoena and company though, is that they will be terribly embarrassed if they expect Cameroon to be a walkover. The Indomitable Lions have brought along most of their influential players for this game in honour of Madiba.

Bar Eto'o, those already in Rustenburg include Idriss Kameni, Jean Makoun, Modeste Mbami, Andre Bikey, Pierre Wome, Achille Webo and Frank Songo'o. Et'o's whereabouts were still unclear after he reportedly missed his flight yesterday, but Cameroon were adamant he would land this morning.

Also part of their technical team is the legendary Thomas Nkono, who was the goalkeeper when Bafana Bafana beat Cameroon 1-0 in Durban in 1992. The historic friendly was Bafana's first international match after readmission by Fifa.

In their last match, Bafana Bafana hammered Cameroon 3-0 on their way to winning the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations in Johannesburg.

Benni McCarthy, who is confident of victory, is expected to partner Bernard Parker up front where they are expected to bombard Kameni. Santana has other excellent players like Teko Modise, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Elrio van Heerden and MacBeth Sibaya.

It remains to be seen if Belgium-based defensive midfielder Masilo Modubi will get a run after being relegated to the bench against Ghana.

l Only 5 000 tickets were left yesterday and Safa official Morio Sanyane urged fans to buy tickets from Computicket outlets early today.
