High school pupils can improve their chances of doing well in their studies by taking part in the University of Johannesburg's biology summer school in Auckland Park on December 1 and 2.

Open to pupils in grades 5 to 8 the summer school is presented by the university's zoology department in its science faculty at the Kingsway Campus.

Held over four-hour sessions from 9am each day on December 1 and 2, the summer school is designed to provide a foundation from which pupils can understand and exploit the potential of the environmental sciences.

The lessons on the dissection of a heart, eyeball and kidney expose participants to other related fields, including micro-organisms.
