The ANC Youth League in Limpopo has called on Premier Sello Moloto to fire sex pest Sam Rampedi - "or else all hell will break loose".

Rampedi, head of the department of local government and housing, was recently found guilty of sexually harassing a former colleague, Thato Mocumie. The court ordered him to pay R90000 in damages.

"All we want is that Rampedi be relieved of his duties in the same way the premier's former special adviser, the late Norman Mashabane, was relieved of his," ANCYL provincial chairman Lehlohonolo Masoga said.

Masoga said Rampedi was an embarrassment and had made a mockery of the Limpopo provincial administration.

He said men of Rampedi's calibre were not fit to hold public office and were a risk to women in general.

The late Mashabane , a former South African ambassador to Indonesia, was relieved of his duties by Moloto after he was found guilty of similar charges.

He was asked to step down even before the allegations levelled at him were tested in court.

"What makes Rampedi so special?" Masoga asked. "We are giving the provincial administration only 14 days to look into the matter or else all hell will break loose."

Provincial local government and housing spokesman Clayson Monyela referred enquiries about Rampedi back to the provincial government.

Government spokesman Mogale Nchabeleng declined to comment yesterday.

He said: "We have no comment to make on the Rampedi matter."
