Avusa Media has once more demonstrated its commitment to the development of soccer by coming on board as one of the sponsors of the 2008 Soccerex.
The event starts next week.
Sowetan and SoccerLife are publications of the media powerhouse involved in Soccerex, a yearly exhibition attracting big business and soccer administrators.
Sowetan readers will win tickets to watch the Football Festival where the likes of legends Lucas Radebe and Jamaica coach John Barnes will also play.
Soccer administrators attending include Fifa president Sepp Blatter, general secretary Jerome Valcke, local leaders Irvin Khoza, Molefi Oliphant and Danny Jordaan.
Blatter and Valcke will be among an array of global leaders who will arrive in the country this week for the 2009 Confederations Cup draw in Sandton on Friday.
It will be the second year in a row that Soccerex will be held in South Africa with the Gauteng government serving as the hosts.
Barbara Creecy, the MEC responsible for sports, arts, culture and recreation, said they will use Soccerex to showcase Gauteng's readiness for the World Cup.
Gauteng is also hosting the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup at Soccer City, one of the venues that are being upgraded in preparation for the tournament.
Creecy said they were ready to put up an even bigger and better show than last year's, which was also a resounding success. Soccerex is expected to inject more than R50 million into the Gauteng economy.
Jordaan and Creecy will be at the Soccerex media briefing today to deal with the event and Confederation Cup preparations.
