Fans of the now well established Soweto Arts Festival should prepare themselves for another year of great fun from December 10 to 16.
As in the previous years, the annual festival will take place at various venues all over Soweto and will feature film, t heatre, music and a children's festival.
The festival is produced in partnership with the Gauteng department of arts and culture and the Gauteng Film Commission.
Sowetan and Sunday World are media sponsors of this popular cultural feast in the sprawling township.
The programme of events is as follows: from December 10 to 12 festival-goers will feast on films and theatre. The activities will take place at Ipelegeng Community Centre, Diepkloof Hall, Slovoville Community Centre, Tshiawelo Community Centre and Tshepisong Hall.
On December 13 revellers will enjoy entertainment in the form of a music feast called Jammin In Da Park at Dorothy Nyembe Park, featuring Mandoza, Jozi, Somizi, Mzekenezakhe No Mavusana, 3Sum and Mr Staff.
On December 14 the youth will be catered for with performances by Pro Kid, BLK Jacks, Uju, Substance, Siya Makuzeni's Ippyfuz and Savages.
The children will be entertained on December 13 and December 14 at Ipelegeng Centre. All programmes are free and start at 2pm.
But the roundup of festivities, especially, promises to be the talked about event of the year.
An event that will attract an adult audience in particular will be the Salute and Celebrate Samora Machel at Mofolo Park.
It will feature Busi Mhlongo, Selaelo Selota, Durban Black Drifters, Ndumiso Nyovane and Black Mok.
