ANC president Jacob Zuma seems to have won the hearts of the people of Mpumalanga during his two-day tour of the province.

During that time he also visited the survivors of an accident that claimed 25 lives last week.

Zuma visited the injured at the Mapulaneng Hospital before visiting the families of those who died when two trucks collided in Bushbuckridge on Wednesday.

"I'm visiting you in the name of the ANC because the organisation cares," Zuma told them.

He said the ANC would set up a trust fund to assist the families of those who died in the accident.

Zuma then went to Thulamahashe Stadium, where he addressed 17000 people .

"Zuma! Zuma! Zuma!" the crowd chanted when he and his entourage arrived.

Zuma challenged the name of the new political party, the Congress of the People (Cope), saying the ANC would protect and preserve its history, culture and identity.

"If they were intelligent they would change the name before money is spent in courts," Zuma said.

"We are the Congress of the People . That's why we fight when some people suddenly call themselves the Congress of the People."
