Bongani "Cyclones" Mwelase just cannot go into the ring against Ali Nuumbembe tomorrow night as flabby as he was when he fought Juan Carlos Villarreal last month.
Nuumbembe is not a washed out fighter like Villarreal who Mwelase brushed aside with only three punches to win the then vacant WBF welterweight belt.
Villarreal, 38, turned professional in 1989 but could only win the South American junior welterweight belt in his 51 fights.
Tomorrow night at Ride Hall in Parys, Mwelase defends against the "Silent Assassin" from Namibia, an outstanding Olympian who holds the WBA Pan African belt.
Mwelase, who has been campaigning in the UK, will be spurred on by the fact that he will forfeit his title the moment he steps in the ring because the WBA does not unify with the WBF. He will have Nestor Tobias in his corner.
This fight, the main contest in the Robs Promotions bill, will be broadcast live on Blow by Blow at 9.30pm.
Mwelase has become a star since he turned professional after winning gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2006.
This Johnny du Plooy-trained fighter has won 12 straight fights with 11 knockouts, while Nuumbembe has 20 victories (7 KOs) against three defeats and a draw.
Du Plooy's other boxer, Bongani Mahlangu, will challenge Tshifhiwa Munyai for the WBA Intercontinental bantamweight belt.
Mlungisi Dlamini should be too young and energetic for Australian veteran Gary St Clair when Dlamini defends his WBF lightweight strap.

It will be co-hosted by the Westside Boxing Academy.
Khathi said the tournament, her second at the venue, will start at 3pm. The main bout pits Willie Mabasa against his former stablemate Tshepo Mofokeng in the junior featherweight division over 10 rounds. Admission is R20 for adults and R10 for children.
