After 34 years of serving the people of Tshwane, the Sunnypark Shopping Centre has more than earned a little pampering.

After 34 years of serving the people of Tshwane, the Sunnypark Shopping Centre has more than earned a little pampering.

This grande dame of the shopping world has undergone 17 months of cosmetic surgery - so to speak.

With its improved disabled access, there is a larger variety of fashion retailers, banks, the food court and new restaurants such as Cappellos, Spur, Nando's and Wimpy.

There is also the brand new 5-screen Nu Metro cinema complex.

In a few months, a Holiday Inn Express Hotel for those of us who "shop till we drop" will be opening its doors. News Café and Pinotage will be opening shortly.

To celebrate the new look, three-day celebrations have been planned.

Starting on Friday at 5.30pm, there will be performances by VIC and the five-piece jazz band Morning Due, followed by the Black Tie Ensemble. From 11pm various hip-hop acts take to the stage.

On Saturday Yfm will broadcast live from the mall. There will also be children's entertainment and prize giveaways.

Things come to a classical closing on Sunday with a regal performance by the Tshwane College of Education's string quartet.
