The African Renaissance movement in KwaZulu-Natal joins hands in bidding farewell to the legendary Miriam Zenzile Makeba, affectionately known as Mama Africa.

Her role as South African goodwill ambassador and her inspiring messages of hope to the nation were recognised by the African Renaissance when she was honoured as a recipient of the prestigious King Cetshwayo African Image Award presented at the launch of the Star Walk in 2001, said the movement's chairman, Sbu Ndebele.
