Our new showroom is very exciting. It is a shoppers' dream. We have designed all aspects of the 8000square metre showroom to make it easier for a shopper to browse and explore all areas of our product ranges.
We have categorised our showroom in specific areas, eg: classic lounge; classic dining; classic bedroom; office; contemporary; patio; outdoor; kids; lighting; rug emporium; picture and mirror gallery, and finishing touches (this is paint and wallpaper selections).
So if a customer is looking for something in particular, it will be a lot easier them to walk around our superstore.
Do your own personal preferences come into play when you choose what to buy?
Personal preferences should not come into play when purchasing.
Fortunately I purchase for a brand that is very much my preference of furniture, which is great for me.
I suppose I love what I do very much. I am passionate when doing it. Often you need to put yourself in your customer's shoes and purchase specific products for specific regions.
Do you have any classic items that sell well every season?
Of course you can't leave a Wetherlys store without buying a classic side or coffee table.
Do you travel as part of your job?
I travel overseas to a few different destinations about six times a year.
Where is the largest furniture expo-fair in the world?
There are many large expos and fairs all over the world.
The largest would probably be the Cologne expo. The Expo High Point in the United States is the largest by area.
Is most of the furniture you stock imported or manufactured locally?
About 70percent local and 30percent import which gives us quicker turn around times.
Who generally seems to buy furniture between couples, the men or the women?
Women in South Africa. It is funny that most of the people who buy furniture around the world are men.
Does furniture sell better over the festive season?
Yes
How large is your furniture section?
Furniture can be found throughout the store. From beds, lounge suites, dining room tables and chairs to a large selection of outdoor and office furniture.
What is the price range?
Middle to high.
