KwaZulu-Natal this week cemented its trade and economic relationship with Mozambique.

This happened when that country's President Armando Guebuza met Premier S'bu Ndebele at one of the flagship plants of ArcelorMittal in Newcastle.

Ndebele spoke of the close ties between SA and Mozabique, noting that it was during the years of the struggle against apartheid that the strong relations were established.

He said South Africa had a lot in common with Mozambique.

"We are proud to associate with a democratic state like Mozambique. In 1994 the first multiparty elections took place in Mozambique in the same year as ours."
