Present leadership a threat

From the time JZ was suspended as deputy president of the country we have been subjected to a barrage of innuendo, insinuation and slander by his supporters.

From the time JZ was suspended as deputy president of the country we have been subjected to a barrage of innuendo, insinuation and slander by his supporters.

Having won the elections in Polokwane, one had thought this trend would be a thing of the past. But it has continued.

Lekota and company left the ANC for reasons best articulated by themselves. But not everyone who left the ANC or is part of the new movement shares their plight.

In this party there are hundreds of people who were never members of the ANC but supported it during elections. So is it proper for the ANC and its alliance partners to apply the same derogatory labels to them?

What needs to be acknowledged is what the present ANC does and does not represent. In the eyes of the ordinary voter they represent a bunch of hooligans and thugs.

This stems from their conduct whenever they appear at public gatherings and media briefings.

Their behaviour will drive people to support Shikota. Having learnt from Zimbabwe we cannot afford to vote for a party purely because of its contribution to the liberation struggle.

No one can claim that his party has to be voted in at any cost. The fact is that the present leadership of the tripartite alliance is a threat to our livelihood.

Major Kobese, Braamfontein
