James Ingram, he of the love songs that have formed the basis of many marriages, is the latest fascinating addition to the Mpumalanga Arts and Cultural Festival.

The popular MACfest takes place at eMalahleni Stadium (formerly @lantic Stadium) on November 29 and 30.

Adding verve and salsa to the rocking festival are Benin's Angelique Kidjo and our own seasoned, inimitable Ray Phiri and evergreen Stimela, whose cool jazz and Afro-pop sounds melded to home-grown rhythms is still capable of blowing any joint.

MACfest will unleash US group Spyro Gyra, king of Afro-pop Oliver Mtukudzi, guitar maestro Jimmy Dludlu, South African songstress Simphiwe Dana, doyen of mask and music Madala Kunene, Grammy-winning US jazz group Take 6, local singer Lira, male vocalist MXO from Port Elizabeth and Mozambique's vocal-guitar-bass-drum quartet 340ml.

Ingram will take the 80s generation and the kids who were conceived with his music down memory lane, providing a romantic backdrop that everyone will enjoy .

Tickets cost R150 for a day and R200 for two days at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers.
