The yearly Safa Soweto Putco Under-15 Soccer Challenge reaches its climax with the crowing of the 2008 champions in Klipspruit on November 29.
The winner will walk away with a R12 000 first prize.
Phil "Chippa" Mogodi, Safa Soweto chief executive, said eight clubs will battle it out in the competition, which started earlier this year with a total of 120 sides participating.
Mogodi said the eight clubs are Meadowlands Diamond City, GV Young Stars, Naledi Youth Academy, Protea Together, Mofolo Rangers, Pimville All Blacks, PCO Young Ones and Berries Young Stars.
He said the tournament used to be played on different dates until they were left with two clubs for the final, but "we decided to change the format this year to make it a memorable day for all those participating as we are celebrating 10 years with Putco backing us".
"There will still be soccer in South Africa post 2010, that is why it is important for us as administrators to channel our energies into development," Mogodi added.
"As Safa Soweto, we hope to have three or four players in the South African Under-23 squad for the 2012 London Olympics and a few more in the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. We won't be able to produce quality players if development is neglected.
"We appreciate the support we are getting from companies like Putco to help us develop the beautiful game in Soweto."
