WARSAW - The Polish political party led by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the twin brother of President Lech Kaczynski, apologised yesterday for abusive and racist remarks about US president-elect Barack Obama made by one of its deputies.
On Wednesday a member of the PiS party, Artur Gorski, called Obama a "black crypto-communist", and a "naive individual whose election must delight al-Qaeda".
Barack Obama "is a disaster, it is the end of the white man's civilisation", he told parliament.
"The leadership of my party does not share the opinions of the member of parliament," Joachim Brudzinski, a senior PiS figure, told a Polish radio station. - Sapa-AFP
