TV newsreader Mandlakazi Mpahlwa is getting hitched to prince Xhanti Sigcau of the Xhosas despite previous denials of the relationship.

Earlier this year, Sowetan confronted the former SABC and e.tv presenter about her affair with the Xhosa prince.

But today we can reveal that the CNBC Africa presenter is pregnant with Sigcau's child. Sigcau, 40, who is married to Venda princess Nombasa, is a chief of the Mbashe Traditional Council.

"Mandlakazi has been very unlucky in relationships. She has been heartbroken one too many times. That's why she is finally settling for a married man," a source told us.

Another source revealed this week that Mpahlwa is not only pregnant but has also agreed to become the Xhosa prince's second wife.

The two are set to wed on November 29 at Nqadu Great Palace in Willowvale, Eastern Cape. The wedding has been confirmed by royal house spokesman and praise singer Zolani Mkiva.

Confronted by Sowetan again about the denial, Mpahlwa was lost for words.

"I am not allowed to talk to the media. Please talk to the family spokesman (Mkiva)," she said.

She would not be drawn into commenting about the pregnancy either.

Mkiva refused to say how many wives and children the prince has. "Let us not talk about things that are not relevant to this wedding."

Instead, he said that at least eight cows and 40 sheep would be slaughtered for the feast.

"We are expecting hundreds of dignitaries, including former presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, current President Kgalema Motlanthe and Bantu Holomisa," he said.

This promises to be the wedding of the year, with Mkiva adding that they had also invited the Lesotho, Swazi, Ndebele, North Sotho, Royal Bafokeng and the Zulu monarchs.

Mpahlwa has also worked for You magazine as a copy coordinator and was voted Best News Anchor at the SABC in 2006.

Sigcau is also a general manager of the Thubelisha N2 Gateway Project in Cape Town.
