The strike at the University of Zululand has ended and lectures and examinations will continue as normal from today.

The strike ended after lengthy negotiations between university management, Nehawu, the ANCYL and the SRC on Wednesday. The negotiations took place in the absence of rector Rachel Gumbi, who is on sick leave.

Lectures and examinations were disrupted by student and lecturer protests that rocked the university on Tuesday.

Lecturers demanded that their salary increments be paid to them.

The students protested because their examinations were "disrupted by the lecturers' actions".
