SuperSport United striker Katlego Mashego is hopeful that his barren spell in front of goal will change, starting this weekend in the quarterfinal of the Telkom Knockout.

United host Bloemfontein Celtic at Super Stadium on Sunday at 3pm.

If the dry spell is upsetting him, then the Bafana Bafana player has not shown it.

Instead, Mashego has seemed to relish his recent role as provider for the likes of Anthony Laffor, captain Ricardo Katza and Glen Salmon.

"If you are not scoring, then do something! I have not been as lucky in front of goals, but that will pass.

"In the meantime, I have to supply other people and contribute to the team," said Mashego.

United will not dismiss Celtic based on their present poor league form, and Mashego is well aware of what happened to Santos in the previous round of this lucrative cup competition.

A complete team effort has made it hard to single out any one United player, though Brent Carelse has been blessed with great positioning and precision passing that has been lapped up by free-scoring teammates.

Celtic's Kleinbooi Taaibos agrees that United's is a team effort.

"Gavin [Hunt] is an excellent coach with an excellent squad. They've got Laffor, Carelse and are ruthless with set pieces.

"Bongani Khumalo and Ricardo Katza always score those. But we will deal with what they throw at us and execute what we have planned," said Taaibos.
